The annual September international exhibition "Flowers" has stepped over the teenage age, celebrating its 15th anniversary! At the same time, the successes and achievements of the exhibition are not at all teenage. Today, this is the main event of the year for all plant lovers - both professionals and amateurs - a real luxurious flower festival!
Director of the exhibition Nadezhda Konstantinovna Grigorieva recalls that having opened for the first time in 1994, the exhibition represented only 48 companies - 43 Russian and 5 Dutch. The total area of the exposition was 1500 m2 and was easily accommodated in the Floriculture and Gardening Pavilion and in a small pavilion in the dammed part of the All-Russian Exhibition Center. One of the first exhibitors of the exhibition were State Unitary Enterprise "Moszelenkhoz" and state farms of decorative gardening - Izmailovsky, Ulyanovsky, Ostankinsky, the well-known today companies "Green Line" and "NK Ltd."
Staying in infancy for a short time, already in its fifth year the exhibition acquired permanent partners in the face of large domestic companies Amadeus, Business Bouquet, Azalia, Agbina, Sevita. National stands of the largest foreign associations appeared - the Flower Bureau of Holland (Blumenburo Holland), Asokolflore from Colombia, Expoflovers from Ecuador, and the Indega Association of German Technology Manufacturers. For 10 years the exhibition has been collaborating with French rose growers Meyan International, suppliers of cut and potted plants Vered Flowers, Enigma Flowers, Carmel (Israel), manufacturers of floristic materials Smithers Oasis (Denmark).
Over these 15 years, the number of participants has increased 15 times, and the area - 10. The current exhibition was already barely accommodated within the walls of the 69 pavilion, the area of which is very impressive - 16,000 m2. Add to this more than 5,000 m2 of open space. The number of participants this year amounted to more than 700 companies from 30 countries of the world, which are the leading suppliers of flowers - Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Turkey, Israel, China, England, Iran, India, Ecuador, Colombia, UAE, etc. that the Flowers exhibition keeps pace with world globalization, demonstrating the colossal expansion of the flower business in Russia. According to the most rough estimates, the capacity of the flower market in Russia is growing annually by 30%, at such a rate any branch of Russian business can envy.
Over the years of its existence, the "Flowers" exhibition has become not only the largest exhibition of plants, materials and equipment for decorative floriculture and flower business in Russia, but also one of the most representative European forums of the flower industry. Today it is on a par with such major international shows as International Pflanzen Messe (Germany), Hortifire (Holland), Flormart-Miflor (Italy), Iberflora (Spain), Salon de Vezhetal (France), etc.
If we talk about cutting and potted products - houseplants, seedlings, container perennials, one cannot fail to notice the success of domestic producers, approaching world quality standards. The roses and lilies grown by the Izmailovsky, Mytishchinsky and Ulyanovsk state farms of decorative gardening, the Kaluga company "Galantus", which has a representative office in Moscow, and the agricultural complex "Yuzhny" are magnificent. To these well-known manufacturers were added names from the regions - "Mokshansky greenhouse complex" from the Penza region, "Raduga-Flora" from Saransk, "Rose Garden" from the Kaluga region, the Moscow region greenhouse complex "Stupino".
The market for potted plants is undergoing significant changes. According to Julia Wolfschmidt, a representative of Wolfschmdt Samen & Jungpflansen (Germany), in Europe, the trade in potted plants has largely moved from specialized stores to supermarkets, so manufacturers began to offer a "finished product" - spectacular compositions of potted plants designed to push the buyer to an unplanned, impulse purchase. Taking into account similar trends in Moscow, as well as in large cities of Russia, in the near future we should expect the appearance of similar products in our country.
At the stand of the Izmailovsky state farm, one could see magnificent compositions for container gardening from flowering, decorative deciduous and spicy plants with the inclusion of dracaena and other common indoor inhabitants. These are also samples of "finished products", which are not often found on sale so far.
I would like to hope that our nurseries, which are more involved in selling imported plants, will soon be able to offer competitive products of their own production. We already have experience in the nurseries "Sadko" and "Nursery Savateevs" and some other farms. A round table organized by the editorial board of the Vestnik Tsvetododa magazine, which as always takes an active social position, "On the fate of domestic nursery breeding", testifies that the issue of producing local planting material and preserving domestic varieties is finally on the agenda. In the meantime, the stands of the "Union of Polish Nurseries", the largest European nurseries "Bruns", "Lappen", "Lorberg", in the assortment of which various species and varieties of woody plants, ready-made hedges, sheared forms, palmettes and bonsai, look more advantageous,so demanded by landscape designers, but so expensive …
But business is business, and flowers are, first of all, beauty, aromas, mood. And, despite the fact that the Russian visitor is still far from enthusiastic contemplation, which is more inherent in an oriental person - we strive to the exhibition more for information, novelties - the eye also had something to stop at. Where else can you, in reality, and not by magazine photographs, appreciate the masterpieces of flower products in such a massive presentation, feel the aromas of the latest varieties of roses, admire fashionable floristic delights ?! It should be noted with regret that this year there were fewer real design solutions in the design of stands, which would not only present flowers as a commodity, but would give visitors the high art of decorating the environment with flowers and plants.
Within the framework of the exhibition, demonstration shows of floristry were held, organized by Blumenbuero Holland, where one could get acquainted with the latest trends in floristry on the topics “Birthday. Birthday”,“New House”,“Wedding Anniversary”. For the first time the show was broadcast on line in the Internet; it was our sponsorshipt to the exhibition for the 15th anniversary. The teachers of the Moscow Flower Growers Training Center also presented trendy bouquets. Demonstration performances of the best Russian masters also took place. The results of the Russian Championship in professional floristry not only demonstrated the high skill of the participants, but also the increased level of representatives of the regions, which indicates the promotion of the culture of floristry in the country. Our floristry goes its own way, somewhat different from western trends, where, in accordance with the fashion trends of minimalism, everything is often reduced to a simple form, line, color. The compositions of Russian florists are distinguished by variety, lush flowers, the successful inclusion of local materials, in the spirit of our national traditions.
Those who attended seminars and presentations at the exhibition certainly did not regret their time. The day of France was especially successful - the presentation of the Edith Piaf rose - dark red, velvety, with a rich pink-fruity aroma of apricot and peach, an emotional story about the roses of the Meilland and Delbar nurseries, the story of six generations of Guillot rose growers, about a new Russian partner - nursery "Minier", about the floristic traditions of France. Landscape designers were interested to learn about the sources of inspiration for the French landscape architect from the author of numerous projects in Europe, the USA, and already in Russia, Philippe Niez, about the aesthetics of Italian landscape designers from the lips of Alberto Gintoli, doctor of the University of Florence.
First-hand information about David Austin's popular roses could be obtained at the presentation of English roses, which was led by the chief specialist of the nursery, Luke Simpson. Tatiana Berezhinskaya, Director of BTA Group, held a seminar on the topic “Construction of reservoirs: classics and new trends”, where she spoke about the technology of construction of decorative and swimming reservoirs and new materials. Alekhina Irina Mikhailovna from the garden center "Podvorie" spoke about the use of sustainable varieties of landscape roses in the landscaping of the city. One has only to complain that the halls were not overcrowded. We advise you to closely follow the advertising at the exhibition next year - you will surely discover something interesting for yourself.
A number of seminars were addressed to specialists - “Light for growth. Modern equipment for lighting greenhouses”,“Resource saving in modern greenhouse facilities”. The time has come when not only goods, but also modern technologies of plant growing began to come to Russia little by little.
Largely due to the efforts of the "Flowers" exhibition, the route of new products to the Russian consumer was shortened. Already today the garden center "Podvorie" is ready to offer new roses of this year from the companies "Meilland" and "Delbar", and the garden center "Dubrava" - bulbous from its new French partners - the company "Ernest Turk" and ornamental shrubs and perennials from the Nursery " Minier ". At the exhibition one could buy two-color phlox Peppermint Twist, winter-hardy feather grass (Stipa lissingiana), Rogers' Fireworks resistant to full sunlight, sedum Matrona, Stepan Razin xyphyum, to name just a few.
Our portal GreenInfo.ru joins in congratulating the organizers of the Flowers exhibition. May the exhibition also bring businessmen new contacts and prospects for cooperation next year, and let the visitors - new discoveries, delight and admiration!
