Video: Most-most: The Moscow Flower Growers Club Sums Up The Results Of Its Exhibitions

Exhibitions of the Moscow Flower Club invariably attract a large number of visitors. Starting with the first exhibition, where the bulbous section presents the first flowers of spring. In mid-April, our gardens are decorated with lush clumps of woodlands, crocuses and liverworts, snowdrops. Varietal hellebores blooming on thawed patches in February-March, when the snow is just beginning to melt under the pressure of the warm spring sun. Unfortunately, not every Muscovite has the opportunity to observe all this touching beauty in their garden and summer cottages. Many visitors to our exhibitions do not have one at all. They come to the club to get a positive charge and enjoy the first colors of spring, when around the gloomy sky and not the first freshness of the snow collected from Moscow streets. Yellow crested and white snowdrops, various crocuses and chionodox.

This year, the first exhibition of the club was decorated with the use of old Russian utensils, and the members of the section appeared before the visitors in old Russian costumes, lovingly collected and restored by Svetlana Ozerova.
The baton of the first exhibition is picked up by the flowers of May: hyacinths and daffodils, tulips and spring flowering ornamental shrubs. This year, visitors to the Flowers of May exhibition had the opportunity to see with their own eyes the earliest peonies blooming together with bulbous plants and even the first branches of lilacs. Among the daffodils, Apricot Whirl, Walz, Flyer, Gentlw Giant, Slim Whitman and Repleet have attracted visitors. Visitors were attracted by the fringed tulip of the Valery Gergiev variety and the bright Forgotten Dream variety.
For the first time this year a specialized exhibition of decorative flowering shrubs was held in our club. The traditional decoration of our gardens is everyone's favorite lilac, and this year, in addition to lilacs, visitors could admire blooming rhododendrons and even tree-like peonies. The Audience Choice Award could be safely awarded to the tree-like peonies "Sunny Crimea", grown in the garden of Vladimir Meyerovich Dubrov.

Early spring is followed by the beginning of summer - June. Unfortunately, nature does not always please us with good summer-like warm weather: it often rains, return frosts create obstacles for the full development and lush flowering of plants. And the time comes for the exhibition of dwarf irises and lilacs. A total of 259 lilac bouquets were presented at the lilac exhibitions.
For the first time, the following varieties of lilacs were presented to the attention of visitors: Seedling Kolesnikova L.A. No. 388, Golubaya, Moscow Lights, Moscow University - all selections by L.A. Kolesnikov, as well as Sesguecentennial and Flower City (Fenicchia). As a magnet, the audience's attention was attracted by the varieties of purple and magenta: India, Zarya Kommunizma, Lady Lindsay, Morning of Russia - they can be called the leaders of the exhibition, they leave no one indifferent.
The Audience Award was given to the varieties Krasavitsa Moskvy, Belle de Nancy, Edith Kevel, Polina Osipenko, Pamyat Kolesnikov, Bride - these varieties of lilac look especially gentle and elegant. The rarest variety Emile Lemoine is very original, which perfectly manifests itself in cutting, which is absolutely not typical for lilacs.

Many of the visitors to the exhibition of dwarf irises admitted that until that moment they could not imagine that dwarf irises are in no way inferior in their decorativeness and beauty of flowers to tall bearded ones, although they are notable for their small stature, which provides them with the opportunity to show off in the foreground of any mixborder. 136 varieties of dwarf and medium-sized irises were presented. Among the dwarf irises, the following varieties attracted the attention of visitors: Circus Clown, Devoted, Country Danсe, Experiment and rare pink varieties Pink Lantern and Pussicat Pink.

Perhaps, there is not a single garden near Moscow, in which we will not see blooming bearded irises against the background of lush peony bushes. Nowadays, breeders have obtained many hybrids and varieties that allow you to extend the pleasure of flowering peonies in the garden for almost a whole month.

In the middle of the exhibition season, there is an exhibition dedicated to the queen of the blooming garden - the rose. Once upon a time, all the roses growing in our gardens were modestly divided into rose hips (wrinkled rose and dog rose) and cultivated roses. They bloomed regularly, wintered tolerably and delighted the happy owners. But times are changing, and now we bring to the Queen's exhibition varieties of various shapes and colors that have a wonderful delicate aroma. About 150 varieties of roses were presented, incl. and novelties-2011 (new for us, we bought them only this year): own-rooted roses from Sunflor - varieties, Outta The Blue, Happy Chappy, Topsy Turvy and Boccacio, the latter won the Audience Award. The undisputed long-term leader of exhibitions is the hybrid tea rose Burgund 81. Excelsa, for the beauty of the flower and the size of the whip is almost 1.5 meters. But everyone regretted that this rose bloom once.

A worthy retinue of the queen of a blooming garden is made up of clematis, the exhibition of which is held simultaneously with the exhibition of roses. This year the exhibition was held for the second time. The section is young, but very active and aware of its culture. That is why clematis are presented at the exhibition in the best possible way, in all their glory. Terry varieties and varieties with large flowers Lord Nevil (fig. 264) and Empress (fig. 216) - the undisputed favorites of the audience's sympathies - amaze the imagination of visitors.

Ornamental deciduous plants are beautiful in their leaves and, therefore, are decorative almost throughout the season. However, their exhibition falls in mid-summer. Hosts, geykhera, astilbe, buzulniks, ferns reign at this exhibition, the particular difficulty of which lies in the ability of collectors to create beautiful compositions based on the play of shades of green. Hosts - small, medium, large, giant hosts and even hosts with dark-colored petioles - were especially vividly presented at this year's exhibitions. The Audience Choice Award this year, without a doubt, could be awarded to compositions of survivors.

There is a section for lovers of rare plants in the club. Members of this section annually go on "botanical" expeditions to different countries, climb mountains and descend into gorges to find, photograph, and possibly pinch off cuttings from rare plants growing in a particular area, bring and grow with love in their garden, and then demonstrate this rarity to collector friends and exhibition visitors. These often tiny plants dominate the exhibition in the "adonis" section. This year, a collection of rare varietal saxifrage attracted special attention of visitors: Charty Cherrypie, Fortuna f. Partita, Sternen Leier, Maiqrum, Sheraguki.

When summer passes through its middle, taking over the nature and our gardens, lilies bloom wildly in them. The variety of species and hybrid lilies amazes visitors every year. Huge specimens, in height exceeding the height of a person, coexist with small lilies of the Pixie series.
The aroma leads visitors to the hall, fascinates and keeps in its sweet captivity. Old proven varieties of domestic selection and new products obtained from abroad are located in vases next to each other, showing visitors the variety of existing species and varieties. For the first time this year, an exhibition of martagon lilies from the collection of Vyacheslav Shishkov was organized. In recent years, these amazing lilies have attracted more and more attention not only to collectors, but also to amateur flower growers: the varieties Hantsing, Cadence, Fire Mountain, Garden Bouquet, Brocade and the delightful dark lily Black Prince in the company with the light-colored beauty Moon Year.
Paying tribute to each culture represented at the exhibitions, it is impossible to forget about daylilies, which in recent years have attracted more and more attention to themselves with their diversity, unpretentiousness, and decorativeness. The members of the daylily section are as versatile as their extraordinary plants. Daylily exhibitions include quizzes and tastings. Visitors can not only look at the delicate daylily flowers, but also taste delicious dishes prepared from them. The People's Choice Award was won by the varieties Don't Mess With Me and Ricter, and the daylilies Victorian Lace, Mike Longo, Alpine Ruffles, Heavenly Angel Ice were recognized as favorites of the exhibition.

For daylilies comes the turn of the most Russian flowers - phlox. Phlox exhibitions are always popular with visitors. Unfortunately, the queues crowding in the club from 8 am greatly complicate the work of the members of the section on the design of the exhibition. But even such difficulties do not interfere with the excellent design of the exhibitions - lush bouquets of fresh, bright phlox fill the exhibition halls.
At the phlox exhibitions, 507 exhibits were presented. At the exhibition Early phlox, which was held at the Museum. Timiryazev, 194 exhibits were presented. Among the winners are the best varieties of domestic and foreign selection:

Shevlyakova for the definition of varieties and seedlings of phlox. The auction of rare seedlings, held on one of the days of the exhibition, also attracted visitors. The most persistent and adventurous visitor managed to acquire rare copyright copies.
The final chord in the exhibition season of this year was the "Autumn Flowers" exhibition, which is held annually by the "Fundamentals of Decorative Floriculture" section. Lots of autumn flowering plants, great decoration. Attention was drawn to the lush bouquets of blooming hydrangeas: Vanilla Fraise, Silver Dollar, Kyushu and Tardiva, and magnificent chrysanthemums: Diplomat, Palevaya, Apple Blossom and the novelty of 2011 - Vavily. Autumn flowers are beautiful compositions of bright autumn plants: roses and heleniums, hydrangeas and perennial asters, buzulniks and black cohosh, various astrances, basil and cereals. Countless plants that adorn our gardens in autumn.
We are waiting for everyone at the exhibitions in 2012!
