From June 29 to July 8, the main landscape festival of the year, the Moscow Flower Show-2018, was held in the Muzeon Park of Arts. We will focus on the garden competition, the theme of which was set in advance - "Garden Theater". Gardens were subordinated to this theme in the nominations Big Exhibition Garden, Small Exhibition Garden, New Names (college students). Two more major nominations - Show Gardens and Gardens of Russia - meant an arbitrary theme. A separate competition for art objects and trade gardens was held. The works of the participants were evaluated by a professional international jury.

The main premieres of the festival were the participation of landscape fashion stars. Famous British landscape designers Paul Brooks and James Alexander-Sinclair built their signature gardens at the festival. "Prometheus Garden" by Paul Brooks received a gold award, as did the work of French designers Claude Pasquet and Corinne Detrooy entitled "Mirrors of Nature". James Alexander-Sinclair is the chairman of the jury of the most prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in the world, the favorite of the Queen of England, he is also the permanent head of the jury of the Moscow festival. However, for the first time in Moscow, he makes his debut with his garden "Garden of Sound" with the support of the Sydlip.

"Theater is the art of reflecting"

The theater is built on artificial reality that is placed on the stage. The painted decorations in our garden are landscapes from engravings by the French artist Jean-Honore Fragonard. Three canvases of decorations create the effect of the depth of the garden. And the great improviser of 18th century French art invites the viewer to become an actor in a unique garden theater and its main character. In the garden, he is surrounded by flowers and mirrors. The whole Universe opens before him. His reflections are everywhere. The game started! He is confused. Who is he: Actor or Spectator? Or a time traveler? The XVIII century bursts into the XXI century and opens a portal to the Future. The adventure is just beginning …

The garden reminds us that our world is illusory and fragile, paradise, due to human intervention, can turn into a lifeless desert. The resources on the globe are exhaustible, so you need to take care of nature. We have applied creativity and ingenuity to the creation of the garden and used recyclable products. For example, in our garden, industrial pallets serve as walls, and mirrors and masks are made from recycled plastic bottles. After all, plastic can be recycled an infinite number of times. Today it is a decoration for a beautiful garden, and tomorrow it will turn into non-woven or polyester, from which they will create clothes.

Believe me, after visiting our garden, your idea of the nature of yourself will not remain the same.

The concept was based on the theme of the one-act ballet "Carmen Suite". This is a relatively modern interpretation of a classic piece.

The contrast between the post-industrial space and the exaggerated luxury of the theater is reflected in the combination of materials used, such as metal, brick, wood, textiles and mirrors. The planning solution is made in simple geometry. The basic structure is formed by beautiful, elegant and uniform blocks of trees and shrubs.

The space consists of three zones:

The first zone - the entrance - a shady torn alley from the ballerina irgi is located perpendicular to the direction of movement.

For more than two centuries, the legend has lived about the acquaintance of a simple peasant woman Praskovya Ivanovna Zhemchugova with Count Nikolai Petrovich Sheremetev near the stream.

The artistic solution of the garden is based on the interweaving of two leitmotifs: the count's serf theater and the fate of one of his outstanding actresses. The creation of a garden tribute to the "people's countess" Praskovya Zhemchugova was not without purpose. 2018 marks the 250th anniversary of her birth.

In the 70s of the XIX century, tea shops appeared in Russia - unique establishments that had no analogues in the world.

Throughout Moscow, "falconers' tea parties" are becoming famous. In the depths of the park, special "tea rooms" appeared - spaces with tables and benches, separated from each other by partitions and acacia bushes. Families would come to such “offices” with their snacks, and the owners of the tea houses provided them with a hot samovar and a kettle.

RUSSIA GARDENS

VDNKh - with love (Best Garden and Gold Medal)

The concept of the garden was based on the theme of reconstruction of VDNKh and, in particular, of the specialized pavilion of the landscape industry "Floriculture and gardening". Built in the 70s of the last century in the style of Soviet brutalism, the pavilion delights with the boldness of architectural thought and innovation of constructive ideas, which allows it to look very modern to this day. In particular, the current trend, an unfinished concrete surface with traces of formwork as a full-fledged decorative element, is presented here in all its glory. The theme of connecting indoor and outdoor spaces through a series of architectural ponds remains fresh. The building is currently under reconstruction. The garden "VDNKh - with love" is a real fragment of the pavilion's surroundings (at the main entrance) and a possible variant of its landscape arrangement. The aim of the exposition is to appeal to treat with attention and love our cultural heritage, carefully preserving everything valuable, and, at the same time, filling the space with new meaning.

Theater of Emotions (Best Garden and Silver Medal)

The garden is divided into three zones that represent 3 human emotions: SADNESS, PASSION, JOY, where plants are the actors. The zones have a similar layout, which determines the integrity of the garden. In each zone there are two chairs and a table on which a player with music corresponding to the emotion lies. The garden interacts as much as possible with all human senses. We see the emotional coloring thanks to the primary colors of each zone, we hear music through headphones, feeling ourselves fully involved in the performance. In the "Passion" zone - plants with thorns and thorns, which have a heady aroma. In the "Sadness" zone, as if tear-stained, slightly damp cereal plants in the fog, there is a bitter smell of wormwood. In the "Joy" zone, brightly colored fragrant plants are used. In each zone, the visitor has the right to evaluate the theatrical performance, his emotions,and leave your feedback on the theatrical masks along the walkway.

Our garden “a piece of another world” is something non-standard. We wanted to convey to you the atmosphere of some Looking Glass.

The garden can be divided into two areas:

Alpine slide.

A resting place is not only a place for shelter from the sun, but also acts as a decorative element. It is a decorative arch with a centrally mounted mirror and four seats. All this is hidden from human eyes by thujas and a small hedge. Behind the mirror are plantings from cotoneaster, ficus and euonymus. At the same time, despite the low size of the plants, the entire composition is arranged so that everything is visually at the same height. As for the Alpine slide, it is a tiered composition consisting of flowering plants such as ivy, cotoneaster, lilac, etc.

LARGE EXHIBITION GARDEN

Partisan (Best Garden and Gold Medal)

The Exhibition Garden is a part of the historical landscape composition "Partizanka" that existed in the central part of Gorky Park since 1955. In the jubilee year, the Partizanka Park was recreated with the aim of reviving the Soviet school of landscape design.

This is a vivid example of the synthesis of planning solutions, volumetric-spatial composition, small architectural forms (urns, benches, lanterns, sculptures), landscaping, color and assortment solutions, the famous carpet flower beds of the Stalinist Empire style into a single monumental ensemble.

The Partizanka Garden is a frozen history, the history of the Stalin era, the war, the Great Victory, our memory and its preservation for future generations.

The dominant feature of the composition is a sculpture of a fragile partisan girl who stood up to defend her homeland with weapons.

The Circlestance garden is the garden of the play of chance, the situation in which the viewer finds himself. Getting into the theater (translated from English. Circle - circle, circlestance - case, situation). The stage is not only the center of the garden, but also the heart of the theater. The place where magic is created, where you can find yourself in any era.

The scenery for the performance is green hedges, against which bright yellow arches give the stage a special theatricality. The circular path around the stage creates dynamics, and the reservoir serves as an accent not only for the garden, but also for the performance.

But magic cannot last long, like our performance. The actors left, leaving only a few props on stage. These things give the garden a touch of sadness and surprise, and the poster at the entrance to the garden will tell the viewer when the unique play of the actors will return to the green theater.

Living Art (Best Garden and Gold Medal)

The compositional solution of our theater partly repeats the green room, the so-called "Ballroom", arranged in one of the bosquets of the Versailles Park. In the Versailles amphitheater, guests sat comfortably on the grass-lined steps of the amphitheater, listening to musicians and watching couples dance. We've also created some of the lower tier visuals. The fountains were installed on the middle steps. A stone covered with moss was chosen for paving. It creates a special feeling - it seems that this story began many years ago.

Contemporary theater leaves room for interpretation, this is an invitation to become a co-creator and to dive deeply into the personal experience of living history. The landscape space is closest to the idea of immersiveness. Here a person sees, touches and senses. We moved away from static decoration and gave our object a double function. Stage and auditorium at the same time, the strawberry amphitheater will give you a unique sensory experience.

Sekitei Rock Garden (Silver Medal)

The word "dacha" appeared in Russian at the beginning of the 18th century. Dacha was the name given to the lands donated by Tsar Peter I to his entourage for temporary buildings near the newly built Petersburg.

By creating the stand "Dachnoe Tsaritsyno", we wanted to acquaint visitors with one of the most beautiful places of "existence" in the dacha period of the Tsaritsyno Architectural Ensemble. The attractiveness of Tsaritsyn as a dacha was ensured by its proximity to Moscow, convenient transport links, and the presence of "big water", i.e. the famous Tsaritsyn ponds, and an extensive park. The ruins of the Grand Palace and the architectural ensemble of Bazhenov gave a special romantic atmosphere.

This garden is about sound.

The basis of the composition is six large steel containers of water, surrounded by airy and tender meadow grasses, easily swaying in the wind. If you get closer, you can see that the water is moving, forming intricate and almost unnatural patterns. Ripples appear on the surface, whirlpools and waves are woven into the water surface. The secret of this effect is submerged speakers that create resonance from waves of different frequencies.

This is a garden about sound that you can see but cannot hear.

Ene-le-Vieille castle garden - "Saint Francis of Assisi preaches a sermon to the birds"

In the landscape park surrounding the feudal ramparts of the Aene-le-Vieille castle, the Renaissance water gardens invite the visitor to walk through the history of garden art. The old stone building, preserved behind the canals, consists of 5 rooms, 5 open-air Chartreuse, each containing a garden dedicated to a theme from the history of gardens. One of the rooms - "Garden of Meditation" - resembles the gardens of the Middle Ages, this garden is organized around a fresco representing St. Francis of Assisi, preaching a sermon to birds, based on the famous fresco of the same name by Giotto. This fresco is a tribute to the four members of the family of the owners of the castle, each of whom played a particularly important role in Aene, and also illustrates the love for nature and animals that united them all. Georges-Henri, friend of birds, Gero is a poet,Jeanne is the soul of this castle as a family home and Jean-Pierre is in love with nature. This castle garden is full of love, poetry and harmony.
