The theme of this year's exhibition sounded like this - "Stories", i.e. the whole concept should be presented through the prism of any stories that touch the feelings and emotions of the exhibitors. The organizers offered their views on this topic, and together they created six so-called "Houses of Inspiration": "Roses", "Magic Experience", "Christmas", "Specialties", "Pleasure" and "Theater of Concepts".

Nine suppliers demonstrated their latest developments and innovations in the field of growing technologies, as well as various machines, vehicles, equipment, materials.

This reportage is about new products. At the anniversary exhibition Plantarium-2017, 97 new products were presented. Ultimately, the jury discussed 69 of them. According to the professional jury, which is formed by the Royal Agricultural Society of Boscoop (KVBC), this is a good indicator (usually a number of participants are forced to withdraw their applications for various reasons). The authoritative jury selected the absolute winner with a gold medal, and also 2 more gold, 7 silver and 14 bronze medals were awarded.

After the exhibition, the best novelties take their place on a special exhibition area. And the best novelties of past years were planted in the open area of the exhibition, where you can see how decorative the plant is and how to use it outdoors. After the Plantarium exhibition, the absolute winner is also presented separately at the GrootGroenPlus exhibition in Zundert, which took place from 4 to 8 October 2017 (this exhibition is one of my next reports).

The best novelty of the exhibition

So, Hydrangea large-leaved " Lady Mata Hari " (Lady Mata Hari) was chosen as the undisputed best novelty of the Plantarium-2017 exhibition. This hydrangea was presented by the Dutch company “De Jong Plant BV” from Boscoop. “The huge variety of large-leaved hydrangea is such that it is very difficult to come up with something new,” the jury says - however, this plant is really special. Its uniqueness lies in the wide variety of different phases of individual flowers on the plant, as well as in the combination of dark and light flowers in one inflorescence and in one flower. In addition, the plants are strong and compact, the flower caps are very dense, the plant is versatile and well represented by the grower."

The best exhibition stands

Of course, as in previous years, the KVBC jury also awarded awards to the best stands of the exhibition, separately assessed "green" stands and stands of suppliers. All "green" stands were traditionally considered according to three criteria - product quality, presentation and assortment. Each criterion is assessed by a separate jury, after which the overall jury selects the top three, and then the winner from these three participants with the highest score. Booth won the Dutch company the F. Of N. Kempen BV from Meidrecht. The jury noted the creative approach to the presentation of the usual assortment, where each exhibit (product) has a separate tag with a curious story about it, its own history.

Suppliers' stands are usually assessed as follows: general presentation, what is the message (message), what is the idea behind the design of the stand, and whether it contains elements that attract attention, catch the eye. Of course, it is considered to what extent each stand fits into the theme of the trade fair - "Stories". In this category the winner was « Duif International, » from Alsmeera - importer and wholesaler of garden and home decorations. In their comments, the jury called this stand "a creative feat", noting the brilliant integrated approach - a combination of plants and accessories and a creative presentation of products.
