One of the best international trade shows in Holland today, the GrootGroenPlus Nursery Show, takes place at the very end of autumn in the city of Zundert. But, as a rule, we talk about it in the spring, because it is part of the exhibition conglomerate of the southern part of the Netherlands, which has been working together to promote itself over the past two years and offer national and international buyers a strategically complete range of the season. Therefore, all four exhibitions included in this union, including GrootGroenPlus, are called spring exhibitions. And she really shows all the best for the upcoming season. The slogan "Looks great in green!" Became the slogan of the GrootGroenPlus 2019 exhibition.

More than 255 exhibitors presented a huge assortment of trees, shrubs and perennials, technologies, equipment, and much more necessary for the operation of the "green" industry. It is known that more than 140 nurseries are located in the Zundert area alone, and since the city is located near the Belgian border, Belgian enterprises are also widely represented in the exhibition. Also among the participants - representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland. Compared to last year, the number of visitors increased by 4.4% and the number of foreign visitors by 1.7%. In 2018, representatives from 33 countries visited the exhibition, in 2019 three more countries were added to this list: Egypt, Morocco and Bermuda.

Within the framework of the exhibition, a large-scale survey of visitors and participants was held. The results showed that everyone enjoyed seeing the exhibition, the wonderful atmosphere, and the novelty of the developments presented, such as, for example, the unique sensory garden, and tea, which I want to talk about in more detail.

The first purely Dutch tea was presented at the exhibition. Johan Jansen designed the "JOAN dutch tea maker" tea collection. This tea comes from the tea plantations of Zundert, the area where the exhibition is held. The idea to grow tea in the Netherlands came to Johan Jansen 12 years ago when he was traveling in China. He noticed that almost all tea comes from a single plant, which is mainly grown in Asia. This is why he decided to grow his own plants and after working on it for eight years, he finally succeeded in growing the first tea plant in Europe.

Tea was awarded the third prize and received the prestigious gourmet star at the "Teas of the World" competition in Paris. And, thanks to the numerous hybrids, the plant has developed into a species that is suitable for all European countries, i.e. You can purchase tea plants to help you create your own fresh, high quality tea. There was a tea house at the exhibition, where the process of tea production was demonstrated, additional information about tea plants was provided and, of course, tastings were held. Several popular flavors are already on offer, including strawberry tea, Van Gogh tea named after the famous artist who was born in Zundert, Zundert's signature tea and others.

The sensory garden with a seating area also attracted everyone's attention. There was not only a show of the green assortment of the exhibition, but also lectures and presentations of the sensory garden itself - a special garden for the visually impaired. This is a garden in which the identification of plants using smells, sounds, sensations is widely used. Two inventors Peter Vanlaerhoven and Pascal Mathijsen from Lowgardens use special devices, special glasses and other items to make sense, hearing, smell, taste part of the experience in communicating with plants. Here we were shown a specially designed device that translates the waves emitted by plants into sound and demonstrated how different types of plants sound. Quite an interesting experience, most of all I liked how Salvia sang, the impression was that suddenly the theremin sounded.

Everyone knows that every exhibition presents a wide range of novelties. At GrootGroenPlus, the Royal Dutch Horticultural Society KVBC traditionally displays new products - the winners of several exhibitions in recent years, well-proven in use. And also, of course, forms the jury and conducts the competition itself. The jury at this professional exhibition is quite strict in the selection of winners, so their list is small, here it is.
