It is no secret that one of the most important stages of seed preparation for sowing is soaking. The seeds are soaked not only in melted, soft water, but also in various chemical germination stimulants. Many people know about them, but little is known about soaking seeds in natural, natural and completely safe solutions. Here are 6 easy ways to get around your store-bought drugs.
There is aloe on almost every windowsill. The juice helps with many human diseases, it is used to strengthen the immune system, and as a remedy to get rid of the common cold, as well as to heal purulent wounds. It turns out that aloe juice affects the germination of seeds, and it is purely positive.
In order to get aloe juice, it is necessary to cut off one or more of its thickest and most juicy leaves, using a sharp and clean knife for cutting. After that, the cut aloe leaves must be tightly wrapped in black thick paper and put on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator for 12-14 days. After this time, the leaves should be removed from the paper and wrapped in cheesecloth, through which squeeze the juice, firmly squeezing the leaves with your hands. Juice should be squeezed into ceramic or glass containers, not metal. This is important, because in a metal container, the juice will very soon lose its properties, and oxidation will occur.
After the juice is squeezed out, you need to moisten a rag (gauze, bandage or other similar material) well in it and wrap the seeds in it. If there is little juice, then it can be diluted in half with melt or rain water (you can use water taken from the aquarium). It is advisable to keep the seeds in aloe juice for about a day (usually hold for 20 hours).
The next option for soaking seeds is in an infusion of ash (soot). Ash (or furnace soot, which is also good), as you know, is an excellent natural fertilizer that is suitable for the vast majority of plants. To create an infusion, you need to take just wood ash, or ash from burning straw or soot from a stove where coal or wood was burning. The latter contains even more minerals than wood ash, but it is now more difficult to get it. The seeds are placed in a solution, which is prepared as follows: 2 tablespoons of ash are diluted in 1 liter of soft water and infused for two days. The seeds are placed in a cloth (gauze, bandage), previously well moistened in the ash infusion, for 4-7 hours (you can overnight).
Another option from the exotic series is dried mushrooms. Why is this solution so effective? As you know, mushrooms contain absolutely all trace elements necessary for both the human body and the plant. Their mushrooms absorb from the soil and accumulate in themselves, like a sponge collects water. In order to isolate microelements from mushrooms into an aqueous solution, they need to be soaked for about a day, after pouring boiling water over them and cutting them into small pieces. In the mushroom infusion, as in other natural solutions, you need to place a cloth (gauze, bandage), moisten it well, and then wrap the seeds in it and keep them like this for about 6 hours.
Very good results, both in terms of germination and seed germination, are obtained by gardeners by pre-soaking them in a solution of real honey. Honey is a generally recognized healing, natural product that contains a huge amount of useful substances and compounds. To soak honey seeds, you need very little, only 1 teaspoon per 250 g of water. The resulting solution must be poured into a saucer with a very thin layer and the seeds placed in it, and then covered with a damp cloth - this is the effect above. Soak the seeds in the honey solution for about 6 hours.
Potato juice also contains a lot of nutrients (not just starch), which it shares generously with the seeds, while increasing their germination energy. The main thing is to correctly prepare this solution, after freezing the potatoes in the refrigerator for 24 hours, grating and squeezing out the juice. Pour the juice in a thin layer onto a saucer, pour the seeds into it and, as in the case with the honey solution, cover with a damp cloth (gauze, bandage). Seeds in this form should lie for at least 6 hours (you can overnight).
Well, in conclusion, let's talk about complex solutions. Such solutions are very easy to prepare, they are simple, but very useful and allow even old seeds that have been stored for a long time to be brought back to life and may not sprout at all without processing.
The simplest and most effective option is onion infusion. To do this, take about 5 g of onion peel, pour it with one liter of boiling water, let it brew for a day and add 50 g of wood ash, 0.5 g of "potassium permanganate", 0.3 g of boric acid and 2-4 g to the solution ordinary soda, stirring everything thoroughly. As soon as everything is stirred, the solution needs to be filtered, dip a cloth (gauze, bandage) in it, put it on a plate and wrap the seeds in a cloth. Before sowing, they must lie for at least 6 hours (you can all night).
So, we have described the most effective natural solutions in which you can and should soak seeds before sowing. For the result to be as you expect, do not forget about simple rules - before you soak the seeds in such a solution, they need to be kept in ordinary melt water at room temperature for an hour, and only after this time is transferred into the solution. After soaking in an active solution, it is advisable to dry the seeds a little (an hour in the open air is enough) and after that you can start sowing.
