Plant life is regulated by phytohormones (auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, brassins and a number of other substances).

The study of phytohormones has led to the creation of a large group of synthetic substances - analogs of plant hormones, called stimulants or substances-regulators. Stimulants are used for different purposes: to regulate vegetative growth, resistance to disease and stress, good development of the root system, to stimulate the rhizosphere.

Stimulants pass mandatory registration with the commission under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Over the past 10 years, the market for drugs for private household plots has been actively developing, their number is increasing every year.

When using stimulants, you must strictly observe the dosage and follow the instructions for use. Stimulants used in over-optimal doses can have opposite effects.

Abbreviations used in the text:

  • Regulators of vegetative growth

    The group of vegetative growth regulators includes both stimulants and retardants that reduce growth.

    I. Growth stimulants: preparations of the gibberellin group



    These include Gibbersib, Gibbor-M, Ovary, Bud, Pollen.

    Gibberellins are plant growth substances. Their practical application is aimed at stimulating fruit formation, increasing the mass and quality of the fruit, root crop, corms and bulbs. Gibberellins cause a sharp acceleration in the growth of green mass, their use should be accompanied by increased plant nutrition.

    To accelerate flowering, plants are treated with gibberellins before budding, and to accelerate fruit formation - after the formation of ovaries.


    "Ovary" accelerates the formation of ovaries and growth even in adverse weather conditions and the absence of pollinating insects. Applicable to all crops:

    on tomatoes - 3 times (at the beginning of flowering of the first, second and third brushes),

    • on eggplants and peppers - 2 times (at the beginning of budding, then at the beginning of flowering),
    • on cucumbers - 2 times (at the beginning of flowering, then during mass flowering),
    • on fruit bushes 2 times, in the budding phases, then green ovaries;
    • on fruit trees 2 times, in the phase of mass flowering and again after petals fall.

    Getting seeds

    At the end of flowering, treat the plants with the "Ovyaz" preparation - you will get larger seeds and in a shorter time. If the seeds in our zone do not have time to ripen, there is a chance that this stimulant will help. However, if you process plants at the beginning of flowering, you will get more "barren flowers" - non-similar seeds.





    Epin-Extra (DV - 24-epibrassinolide), a plant growth and development regulator with a pronounced anti-stress and adaptogenic effect. It improves adaptability to unfavorable external conditions, increases resistance to phytopathogens, reduces the amount of toxins and nitrates in plants, helps weak and old plants to live by stimulating shoot formation. Under stressful conditions (frost, disease onset, unfavorable weather conditions, heat), spraying is carried out every 7-10 days until the stress stops or the plants recover.

    Epin is used for foliar processing of herbaceous perennials two to three times per season, the first time in the phase of 2-3 true leaves, the second at the time of budding. It is recommended to use with surfactants, Liposam is currently the best.

    Concentration of Epin-Extra solution:

    1 ml / 5 l of water - when spraying vegetative plants;

    • 1 ml / 2 l of water - when soaking the bulbs (for a day);
    • 1 ml / 1 liter of water - when soaking flower seeds (for a day).

    Multiplicity of treatments:

    1 time / month - preventive spraying.

    • 1 time / 7-10 days - under unfavorable conditions (illness, dry air, lack of light, etc.) until recovery or while the plant is under these conditions.
    • Organosilicon preparations

      These are Mival, Mival-Agro, Krezatsin, Siliplant. Let us consider the properties of these drugs using the example of Siliplant, the rest are similar.




      Siliplant is a liquid universal microfertilizer with a high content of bioactive silicon (up to 7%) and a complex of microelements in a chelated form (iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, cobalt, zinc, boron). It is used for pre-sowing treatment of seeds and planting material, feeding plants during the growing season. Siliplant is a multidimensional preparation:

      stimulates the development of the root and aerial parts;

      • relieves various stresses;
      • has a pronounced fungicidal effect;
      • activates photosynthesis;
      • increases resistance to sucking pests (mites, thrips, aphids, scale insects). The more silicon in plants, the higher the mechanical strength of plant tissues and resistance to pests and diseases.

      Siliplant is applied by spraying or soaking planting material for root and foliar feeding of plants in open and protected ground with an interval of 10-12 days.

      Chitosan preparations

      These are Narcissus and Ecogel. The peculiarity of the action of the drugs is that chitosans activate genes responsible for protective reactions. Narcissus is able to suppress fusarium and late blight infections by 85-90%. Preparations based on chitosan are harmless to both plants and humans, even if the concentration or total dose is exceeded.


      Ecogel (DV - chitosan lactate) is a growth regulator with fungicidal activity. This is a modern drug with a prolonged action, stable at both low and high temperatures. Does not decompose in light, does not require special storage and application conditions. Eco-gel activates the germination of seeds and tubers of vegetable crops, improves the quality of seedlings, accelerates their survival. It also stimulates the growth of the root system, the aerial part, and accelerates fruiting. Increases plant resistance to bacterial rot and fungal diseases, including powdery mildew, late blight, rust. Eco-gel increases the resistance of plants to unfavorable environmental conditions and relieves stress during transplantation, in case of damage as a result of frost, drought, sudden temperature changes. Eco-gel is effective on vegetable, green and fruit crops.



      One of the interesting applications of EcoGel is the ability to use it to improve the viability of imported planting material. It has a mild effect on plants and the effect of treatment with Ecogel lasts up to 14-20 days. More frequent treatments cannot be done; a weakened plant may die. To adapt imported planting material, it is possible to recommend alternating irrigation with spraying with Eco-gel at an interval of 14 days.

      II. Retardants - drugs that reduce growth

      Athlete, Anti-Virus, CCC (Chlorcholine Chloride)

      This does not mean that they stop growth altogether, they contribute to the reduction of vegetative growth and the production of compact, strong seedlings of vegetable and flower plants, the seedlings are not stretched out due to the reduction of internodes. Spraying or watering the seedlings with Athlete, starting from the phase of 3-4 true leaves, forms strong stocky, "athletic" plants with a powerful root system and flowering brushes. As a result, the yield of early production almost doubles.

      Foliar treatment of flower crops and ornamental shrubs is carried out during outgrowth 2 times with an interval of 5-7 days. The athlete is a well-known drug for a long time, earlier it was called TUR.
