Ito hybrids are a group of peony hybrids created by crossing treelike and herbaceous peonies. These masterpieces of selection are gaining more and more popularity in the market and are in demand, the price for them is no longer so frightening.

No other variety has such unusual shades in flowers like Kellis Memory. Handsome! Immediately won my heart. The flower is large (up to 20 cm in diameter), semi-double, "chameleon" - painted first brown, then brightens. You can observe simultaneously golden, creamy shades, smoothly turning into a pale yellow color. The middle is brighter, sometimes there are strokes along the petal.

They can grow in one place for a long time.

• If you plant a young plant correctly, then it practically does not require care. In general, you need to treat them in the same way as with herbaceous peonies.
• They hibernate without shelter, in contrast to tree-like peonies.
• Do not get sick, incredibly hardy, resistant to rot.
• They grow both in the sun and in partial shade (in partial shade, flowering is longer).
• Plants do not need support.
• Strong flower stalks, high decorative properties of the bush, beautiful leaves.
• A wide range of colors: bright yellow, wine, white, lilac, pink, beige, raspberry-lilac flowers … One bush can bloom in different colors - this is very impressive.

The buds of the ITO-peony are not located exactly as in the herbaceous one - they are located not only on the roots, but also on stiff stems, quite high from the roots.

It is desirable to plant a seedling on its side. It is necessary to deepen the kidneys that are closer to the horses. Leave the upper ones on the stems on the surface of the ground. If the root is planted straight, it will grow into one trunk with small branches and after 3-5 years it will be difficult to divide it. The most important thing is not to replant peonies in summer! They may die.

Landing. It depends on when you bought

ITO-hybrids can be planted in spring and autumn. If it is early spring in the yard, the ground has just thawed, and you can already stick a shovel into it, then it is better to immediately plant the peonies in a permanent place. But if, for some reason, the planting pit is not ready, plant the delenki not in a permanent place, but in a pot. Don't wait for the buds to grow.

The container with the plant must be buried in the ground, sprinkled with earth to the brim and left until autumn. It does not hurt to use the growth stimulator Kornevin, HB-101 or an analogue. In this form, the seedling will live well before transplanting in the fall. If the soil for the plant is prepared correctly and the container is not cramped, then the root will develop normally. The resulting flowers must be cut off (I just didn’t do it when I was taking pictures). In general, ITO-hybrids are capable of blooming right in the year of planting.



Bush division - only in autumn

You can start dividing the peony bush only in the fall. Before planting, cut the sections on the cut with ash or grease with brilliant green. For the prevention of rot and other diseases, it is advisable to place them in a solution of potassium permanganate for 20-30 minutes or use the drug Maxim. The seedling must be air-dried before planting in the ground.

The varieties that everyone should have

Of course, all peonies are beautiful in their own way, but every gardener can choose a variety to his liking. I want to share my observations of the most popular varieties of peonies. These are great strains that all hobbyists should have.

Bartzella. Of the many yellow peonies, the cultivar remains the favorite. It has a characteristic Japanese shape of a beautiful semi-double flower with a yellow-lemon tint and a reddish-pink color in the center. It has a pleasant and unobtrusive aroma. In height, it can reach 1 m. It blooms in mid-June. Pastel Splendor. The flower of this variety is non-double, 18 cm in diameter, pale pink, yellowness is present, sometimes lilac and white are found, and cherry to the middle, sometimes bright strokes appear from the middle of the petal. The center is brighter and consists of large stamens and staminodes. The height of the bush is 80-90 cm. Long flowering can be observed due to the flowers, which open gradually over three weeks.



Peony Ito-hybrid Pastel Splendor Fest Arrival- an amazing variety. Flowers of 20 cm are lavender-pink in color with darker "flashes" in the center and golden-yellow stamens. It seems to be shining in the sun. Perfect semi-double shape.
