Today, any self-respecting summer resident will definitely find time to start arranging a lawn. Indeed, without it, our garden looks more like a plantation of flowers and vegetables interspersed with fruit trees and berry bushes. Lawns organize the garden space by tying together its disparate elements. Green is neutral, it has a calming effect on our psyche, tortured by city life. And finally, it is pleasant to walk on the lawn, besides, it also collects excess dust on itself and refreshes the air on a hot afternoon. In short, there is nothing strange in the fact that lawns are gradually crowding out not only potato plantings and garden beds, but even flower beds.

When setting up a lawn, it is important to choose the right lawn mixture. Otherwise, you will have to part with the dream of a beautiful and practical lawn. First, decide for yourself what kind of lawn you want. The highest quality lawn - parterre… It is usually arranged in front of the house and serves as a kind of business card for the owner. The parterre lawn requires constant care and attention, and most importantly, regular mowing. For most gardeners, such a lawn is an unaffordable luxury, since caring for it takes too much time, which is usually not enough. Grass mixtures for parterre lawns are usually the most expensive and contain only narrow-leaved grasses, creating the effect of a velvety-soft green carpet. These are, first of all, meadow bluegrass and red fescue. They, as a rule, are also present in the grass mixture for an ordinary lawn (such lawn mixtures are also called universal), but in combination with other cereals, including broad-leaved ones. Broad-leaved cereals, such as perennial ryegrass, are considered coarser and tougher, and the more their content in the mixture, the lower its quality, and therefore the price. Those who want a good quality ordinary lawn can be advised not to buy lawn mixtures that contain a large percentage of perennial ryegrass seeds. True, recently they have brought out undersized and narrow-leaved varieties of this cereal, but there is no guarantee that it is they who are part of the lawn mixture you buy. In addition, perennial ryegrass is considered a short-lived cereal that quickly creates a grass cover, but then falls out. Therefore, with a high content of its seeds in the lawn mixture, large bald spots may appear on the lawn.recently, they have brought out undersized and narrow-leaved varieties of this cereal, but there is no guarantee that they are part of the lawn mixture you buy. It is easy to remember one more general rule that should be followed when buying a lawn mixture. If you have a choice, give preference to domestic seeds. Imported mixtures sometimes contain seeds of those lawn grasses that are not sufficiently resistant in our conditions.

When arranging a lawn, you should always think about what it is intended for. If you are a kebab lover and your children are inclined to outdoor games, choose for your lawn a grass mixture of grains that are resistant to trampling. The so-called sports lawns can withstand extreme stress, but they require too frequent mowing, which is not a pleasure for every gardener. Therefore, in places of heavy traffic, you can sow a universal lawn mixture. The main thing is that the place for such a lawn is dry enough and well illuminated by the sun.

There are lawns for the lazy: they do not require regular mowing, and besides, they delight the eye not only with their greenery, but also with flowers. These are the so-called meadow and Moorish lawns.… You can buy a grass mixture for a Moorish lawn at the store. In addition to cereal seeds, it contains seeds of perennial and annual flowers. It is advisable that there are not too many of the latter, otherwise your blooming carpet may fade next year. This is unlikely to happen with a meadow lawn: after all, it is, in fact, a refined area of a meadow. Our actions boil down to timely weeding out the most harmful weeds, for example, nettle, sorrel, thistle, replacing them with those plants that, in your opinion, will decorate a green lawn with their presence. Both meadow and Moorish lawns must still be mowed from time to time, but this can be done not with depressing regularity, but 1-2 times per season, preferably after seeding the flowers.
