There are days when everything around seems gray, and the world suddenly loses its color. And even the usual summer cottage garden seems dull and ordinary. I don't want radical changes, but even without a miracle, life is still not life. How can you add variety and colors to the most ordinary everyday life? Is it possible to revive familiar things?

The specialists of the International Bulb Flower Center, which is headquartered in the Netherlands, consider growing seasonal flowers that are capable of changing the look of your garden beyond recognition several times a year.

Each season, together with the best Dutch florists, the Bulb Center specialists present seasonal collections of flower bulbs that meet all the fashion trends of the upcoming season, as well as their own versions of current garden arrangements.

For the 2009 season, Dutch experts recommend focusing on the placement of individual juicy color accents. Large monochromatic flower beds are not typical for Dutch-style garden design - experts advise combining different types of plants in one sector, while limiting themselves to one or two large flowers for each "green corner". At the same time, Dutch florists advise to play more actively with color and not be afraid to combine a variety of plants in one area: life without contrasts and experiments is boring!

The main trend of the new season is bright accents and saturated colors, as well as asymmetry and loose geometric shapes: the more natural the riot of colors seems, the better.

The ideal garden of the season is a few brightly colored tall flowers in different parts, complemented by less tall and more modest flowers of the same tone, creating a colorful background framed by climbing and semi-wild bushes or ivy.

An excellent color scheme is two-color tulips (pink-green, yellow-orange or white-red), planted in two or three pieces, surrounded by small islands of white or pink muscarias on a cushion of small climbing green plants.

An alternative option for coloring the garden with bulbous flowers: several groups of large daffodils of a milky peach color in combination with three to four tall chrysanthemums of a burgundy or golden hue. Terry hyacinths are suitable as a link between the swift, sharp forms of chrysanthemums and the delicate foam of daffodils. The main thing is not to overdo it with quantity: Dutch experts believe that it is better to leave more space empty than overdo it with a variety of colors and shapes, turning the composition into screaming chaos.

Another current trend: lily-shaped tulips, pointed upwards or with feather-shaped petals. Each such flower is an ornament in itself. Experts believe that multicolored tulips look better singly, but burgundy red or white can be planted in compact compositions. Tulips go well with bulbous primroses. If you have chosen this version of garden arrangement, add a couple of irises at random: these tall strong flowers will perfectly set off the complex shapes of tulips and bring a fashionable variety of colors to a delicate composition. The main secret of this composition: the emphasis is not on variegation, but on the complexity and sophistication of forms and rich color.

Finishing touches for a colorful garden: Place an elegant summer table in the garden that matches the color of the flowers, as well as a pair of wicker or delicate metal chairs.
