In our main reportage about the exhibition in Chelsea 2012, we already wrote that it was held under the sign of the monarch's jubilee - the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Floristry is not the main branch of the exhibition, but 600 master florists took part in it this year.
The famous designer Derek Armstrong and his assistant created the royal coat of arms from flowers, including two lions and two unicorns more than 1.5 m high, with columns of natural flowers on the sides, as well as a royal crown, a copy of the bouquet that Elizabeth held during her coronation, the orb and the Royal Order of the Garter.
The main task in the florist competition was making a chandelier from flowers. The best works were presented in the Great Pavilion of the exhibition, and the winners' chandeliers will decorate the royal banquet on June 5, the day the festivities end. All these airy living chandeliers are created from floral materials and glass elements, some of them are equipped not only with candles, but also with tiny functioning bulbs. You can see these works in our photo gallery. And, of course, crystal, royal purple and orchids won.
