Video: Felted Compositions - A Trend From Monique Van Den Berge

Monique Van Den Berge is a world-renowned Belgian florist and designer, whose works are always distinguished by special elegance. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels with a course in painting, ceramics and sculpture, and then the floral school in Ghent. He is the author of books on wedding floristry Flowers in Love and Flowers and tears. Continuing to create her own ceramics, she also brings into floristry the foundations of her main specialty - graphic design, the main pillars of which are form, line, and color.
This season, Monique turned her attention to such a flexible and fashionable material as felt. Felting from wool in recent years has ceased to be just a craft and has turned into a fine art - felling. Felt boots are now marching across all the cold countries of the world, panels, scarves and hats, clothes, all kinds of accessories and jewelry, dolls and whole genre installations have been made from felt (see Felting - these are not only felt boots!).

Monique proposed a new floral trend for this season in the fall. The year of the sheep is coming, and its wool is the best material for felting. This idea was immediately taken up by European floristry, in which the opinion of Monique Van Den Berge is very authoritative.

For her work, Monique began to create forms from felt. These intricate balls will remind someone of the buds of fabulous flowers, to someone Christmas tree decorations, and to someone soft snowballs. The warmth of felt in her compositions is unexpectedly combined not with traditional winter plants, but with delicate tropical orchids. They easily fit into the soft folds of felt and keep their freshness for a long time.

And this is a good idea for decorating a gift with flowers. If you want to present a soft blanket, roll it up and decorate with flowers to match. Here - orchids, scabiosa, white roses with a green center, green caps of hydrangeas, a little bit of juniper greenery. Calm colors emphasize the softness of the felt.

The last composition is flat, for a coffee table, where it will be well viewed from above. The center of tightly folded leaves is surrounded by strips of soft lilac felt, and the top is decorated with a whip of honeysuckle and flowers of the same green and lilac range. She carries a pacifying romantic mood.
Monique's compositions envelop the viewer with the warmth of soft wool and homeliness. But these are also full-fledged art works. There is something from the school of Wassily Kandinsky in them - graphic quality, simplicity of forms, impeccable colors and a revolutionary solution …
